NEOLITHIC AND MESOLITHIC ARTIFACTS, ARROWHEADS, SAHARA DESERT, AFRICA

Neolithic artifacts featured in my store are from Africa. I have been told the way Neolithic arrowheads got to the united states before their import was stopped was during the time the white man hired the nomads to look for meteorites in the sands of the Sahara desert and ask them to pick up ancient arrowheads along the way. The Neolithic artifacts are very nice and worked into beautiful shapes using some of the most beautiful stones available to the Indians. Some of the stones were carnelian, jasper, jade, fossilized wood, clear quartz crystal yellow quartz and quartzite. The same is true at the other end of the world in the Atacama desert. The Sahara desert arrowheads frequently are iridescent and sometimes serrated. The recurve base triangles are similar to the Dalton arrowheads found in the United Stated. The eccentric arrowheads are still a mystery to their use. The Neolithic arrowheads are much older then the North American arrowheads. They are considered to be from 3,000-7,000 years old. Many of what we call arrowheads were really work tools. Women made many of what we call arrowheads. We sometimes spend too much time concerned about the size and shape of the arrowhead but never take the time to feel the use of the stone. I consider Lenny Murphy the authority on the Neolithic artifacts and their use as work tools.

I was born and raised in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. My birth home was so far back in the mountains even the wild animals sometimes lost their way home. The mountains were so tall it was almost noon before the sun could warm the valley. The green plush valley was filled with Indian artifacts, man's tools of the past. Some artifacts as old as recorded history. My weapon of choice for hunting was my trusted bean flip. My bullets were a pocket full of Indian arrowheads I would find along the creek. Sometimes I would set in the noonday sun and let my imagination run rapped. I could see the Buffalo grazing on the once green fertile prairie. I could see the native Indian surveying the vast herd. I could see the many type of spears used to kill only what the Indian needed for food, clothing and shelter. I could see the past denied me except what my mind would allow me to see. I have a great respect and admiration for the native indian.
