CHEROKEE INDIAN TERRITORY PADDLE STAMPED ANCIENT POTTERY
PREHISTORIC CHEROKEE POTTERY: DURING THE WOODLAND PERIOD IN GEORGIA BECOME WIDSPREAD FOR STORAGE, PREPARATION OF FOOD ITEMS AND COOKING. POTTERY WAS MADE FROM RAW MATERIALS FOUND IN THE AREA AND DECORATED WITH TERRITORIAL PATTERNS.

SURFACE DECORATIVE PATTERNS WERE APPLIED IN DIFFERENT WAYS SUCH AS USING WOOD TO MAKE A PADDLE AND CARVING LINES AND DESIGNS THEN STAMPING IT TO THE SOFT OUTER SURFACE. MANY OTHER TYPES OF DESIGNS WERE USED SUCH AS SHARP OBJECTS AND CORD WRAPPINGS.

THE CHEROKEE INDIANS USED SAND,GRAVEL, CHARCOAL, MOSS AND EVEN GROUND UP PIECES OF BROKEN THEN CRUSHED POTTERY SHARDS FROM BROKEN POTS.
